What to ask before hiring a website developer in Zimbabwe

Assess relevant work, written scope, ownership and the support available after launch.

Look beyond the homepage

Ask to see projects that resemble your requirements. Open the live sites on a phone, follow the navigation and inspect the contact journey. For a membership website, ask about applications and administrator access. For a service business, look at how clearly the work is explained and how visitors request a quotation.

Ask for a written scope

The proposal should explain the pages, functionality, content responsibilities and review stages. Confirm how additional work will be quoted and what counts as acceptance. Agree who provides text and photographs, who approves changes and how progress will be shared. Clear responsibilities reduce confusion during development.

Discuss ownership and handover

Ask who will control the domain, hosting and business email accounts. Confirm access to source code where applicable, how content will be updated and how records can be exported. Support should describe what is covered, how requests are raised and which ongoing services are charged separately.

Include practical testing

Request checks for mobile layouts, keyboard navigation, readable contrast and labelled form fields. Confirm that enquiry submissions are saved or delivered as agreed, and that failures give visitors a clear next step. Search setup should include useful titles, canonical URLs and a sitemap, without promises of guaranteed rankings. Before choosing a developer, compare the complete proposal against your business needs. A good conversation should leave you understanding both the solution and your responsibilities after launch.
